Malaqi Trail and the Waterfall Abseil

Malaqi means the meeting, and that is what it is - the point where the Hidan wadi runs into the Mujib. Getting there is the honest part of this trip. You are picked up at six, and the first three hours are dry walking down a stony wadi bed with no shade at all, in air that sits around thirty-eight by nine in the morning. There is no water on your skin until the wadis meet. Then it changes completely: deep green pools you swim rather than wade, chutes you slide, and one twenty-metre abseil down the face of a waterfall with the water hitting your shoulders the whole way. That abseil is the only exit. There is no path around it, and once you are at the lip, down is the direction available - if that sentence makes you uneasy, book the Siq Trail instead. You finish by floating out through the lower Siq to the Adventure Centre, generally too tired to talk. Eight people maximum, two guides, and you must be able to swim twenty-five metres unaided in a buoyancy aid.
